New job

I started my new job on Tuesday and think that I might like it here. A fast train into London Waterloo followed by a pleasant 20 minute stroll along the South Bank and over the Millenium Bridge – can’t wait for summer. Unheard of in the world of IT Contracting, I turned up at the alloted time and was shown to a desk with a working PC, an email account, unfettered interweb access and a cracking view across London taking in St Paul’s Cathedral and the post Office Tower. The work seems rather interesting too with loads of scope for learning new stuff.

Going Downhill Fast

Spent last week skiing in Les Arcs in the French Alps. Had a great time in spite of the fact that most of the week was spent in almost complete white out conditions with extreme cold and high winds. The resort was closed for two days due to the conditions and a very high risk of avalanches. It's quite sobering laying in bed being kept awake by constant avalance blasting and the occasional sound of tons of snow hurtling down a mountain.

Sam, star that he is, took ski lessons in less than perfect conditions and earned his level one 'ourson' medal and certificate from the Ecole Du Ski Francais. I give him a couple of years before he can out ski the lot of us.

And there I was, gone…

So, I finally left my old job at Crap Co. I spent the last couple of weeks deleting it from my memory. I made a few friends and learned an awful lot about how not to manage people and projects. I can not believe that I tolerated two years in the company of such Luddites. Good riddance.
